NEW! The office of the State Superintendent has recently informed us that Garfield Elementary School has been awarded the 2011 Wisconsin School of Recognition Award for the 2nd straight year. "Let's start the 2011-12 school year celebrating what's right in education," said State Superintendent Tony Evers as he announced the names of 116 schools receiving recognition for their success in educating students from low-income families. Congratulations to the entire Garfield School Family!
The Wisconsin School District Performance Report (SDPR), the on-line report published by the Department of Public Instruction (DPI), has been updated to reflect data for the 2009-2010 school year. The site also includes the Achievement data for 2010 - 2011. Districts are required by the School Performance Report statute to publish data on their schools and enable a comparison of data across school districts in the same athletic conference. AWARD! Each Spring, the Wisconsin Council of Administrators for Special Services holds an awards banquet for people deserving of recognition for their outstanding work with children with disabilities. Julie Williams, Mary Bittner, and Rod Francken were chosen to receive this coveted award! We should be very proud of these three individuals' accomplishments for our district!

Kohl Awards Announced! Congratulations to Jacki Seyfert of Garfield Elementary School on being named a Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Fellow. This is a tremendous honor and speaks highly of educational excellence provided by Ms. Seyfert. Garfield School, the District, and greater community also benefit from such a recognition.

BLUE RIBBON AWARD WINNER! Marinette school chosen for State & National Honor!
(PT © 09/16/2009) We had one of only eight schools in Wisconsin, chosen by the U.S. Department of Education as a "2009 Blue Ribbon School." Nationwide, only 413 schools could be nominated for the prestigious honor. The Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors elementary, middle and high schools that are either academically superior or that demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement to high levels. Additionally, the Marinette School District is a proud district for which a school has been selected for "Wisconsin School of Promise" recognition by Wisconsin educators.
